Maine motorcycle rider dies in crash with minivan in Bangor
BANGOR, Maine (AP) —
Police say a motorcycle rider killed in a crash in Bangor, Maine, was a corrections officer at the Penobscot County Jail.
Public Safety Spokesman Brent Beaulieu said Tuesday that a 2013 Harley Davidson driven by Chaz Gray, 31, of Levant, and a 2009 Honda Odyssey collided at the intersection of Union Street and Godfrey Boulevard around 10 p.m. Monday.
Bangor police and fire departments responded to the crash. Gray was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the driver of the minivan was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
Gray had worked as a corrections officer at the Penobscot County Jail since 2019. Beaulieu said he was a "valued member" of the staff.
The crash is the second fatal motorcycle accident in Maine this year. In June, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Wilton.
